The Monogamists

September 30, 2008 · 1 Comment

Today is a momumental day for my friends and me. Today we are all with one guy and one guy only. My friend “Charlotte”, the one with the blog New Yorke Cherie, has the most wonderful boyfriend for about seven months. My other friend “Miranda” is in the Hamptons to decorate a multi-million dollar house all while dating her personal assistant. How cliché. “Samantha” has had many relationships but only a few serious. She’s recently been working on the press for the Superbowl and has fallen for one of the Superbowl execs. If you knew her like I do you owuld realize why this is such a big deal because she usually falls for the one-night stand sort-of guys like bartenders and male models. So, now we are all happily in relationships. We are now all planning a dinner with all of our boys and us. It’ll be awkward but very fun to meet everyone. I’ve only met “Charlotte”’s boyfriend and not “Miranda” or “Samantha”.

Today “Samatha” said to me on the phone that she had found ‘the one’ but before she was certain I had to meet him. Then I had a thought. Why do women need their friends advice and guidance before they can make an important choice? I can not be judgemental though because I know that before I buy anything over three hundred dollars I need my friend to come and watch me try things on. Can women not function without their friends’ input?

p.s. My friends have agreed to guest write a blog so if anyone is interested in hearing more about their relationships, jobs, or anything really just comment or email me.

Sarah Jessica Parker

I absolutely love SJP and not only because she stars in my favorite show, Sex and the City. I find her totally relatable and so sweet. In order to spread my admiration for her along to you, here’s two Youtube viedos of her. The first viedo is her Emmy speech in 2004, which I think is one of the best speeches. It makes me a little choked up, but probably only because I am such a SATC fan. The second one is one of the cutest commericals ever.

All That Glitters…

September 27, 2008 · 1 Comment

I think one of the most accurate songs of all time  is “Dimonds are a Girl’s Best Friend”. When I where a great piece of jewerly I feel so pretty and all grown-up. So here are some jewerly to make all of you feel pretty:

My favorite jewewrly stores are Tiffany’s and Lang Antiques. Both of these stores can be pricey so for other, more afforable jewerly look at Kay Jewelers or Zales Jewelry. For fake, very cheap, and very cute, look at Girl Props or Claire’s. Both these stores are kind of aimed at for younger kids but they are great for costume jewerly or fun night-out jewerly that you won’t mind if it breaks. I am not really a fan of Kay and Zales although I cannot say since I have nothing from those stores but I am a firm believer in expensive jewerly. Jewerly is something that you keep all your life and jewerly, especially diamonds, never go out of style.  So treat your self to a nice diamond necklace or bracelet or earrings and you’ll be singing Marilyn Monroe’s song, Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend all the way home.

La Douleur Exquise

In New York, you can feel the seasons changing. Summer is fading away and fall is here. Therefore, the styles are changing as well. HIgh-waisted skirts are still in but now there are no more bare legs in the streets only textured tights.

And there are no longer any short, short shorts only baggy and slouchy trousers like these:

Evolution: Does This Make My Ass Look Big?

September 19, 2008 · 11 Comments

This blog has grown so much in the past few months. Another addition I would like to do is to post what I’ve been wearing. I’ll call it ‘Does This Make Me Ass Look Big?’ So here are some of my favorite looks I wore this summer and hopefully will still get some use of:

This outfit is very casual but still professional.

I love this dress because it is so simple but when worn with the belt, it goes to a whole new dimension.

I absolutely love this dress, which was originally a skirt. Since it’s so flow-y it definitely still needs a belt to define the waist. I love the soho/ hippy vibe of it all. It was really what inspired my wardrobe for the summer: Just fun and free.

Also, here’s an outfit I created on this really cool website called Polyvore.com. I have a lot of black tie events coming up and thought this would be an amazing choice to wear. Hopefully, I’ll be able to save enough to purchase the Miu Miu.

ps. Does anyone know a good art blog about new york city exhibits? I am really looking forward to checking out more exhibits this year.

The Caste System

September 17, 2008 · 1 Comment

In the Ancient Roman times, if you were born into a rich family you were nobles and there wasn’t much change. Nowadays people like Will Smith in Pursuit of Happyness can become rich and rich people can become poor. As my history teacher in sophomore year taught me, that means America’s society mobility is open. She would be so proud.

Except there still is this sense that your childhood and how you grew up stays with you forever. Some things I really loved about my childhood. I mean the fact that I ran around at midnight in the streets of New York was pretty fun. The life I had was completely surreal. I mean, I had to balance SAT scores and my 4.0 grade point average all while making sure my parents didn’t catch me smoking or staying out until morning. However hard it was to manage, I still miss it all.Living in New York for my entire life gave me an experience like no other. I was exposed to fashion through my modeling, the elite colleges through school, and the life of a socialite through the parties I went to.

In high school, there’s a ranking system just like Ancient Rome. Popular, smart, athletic, and freaks. I fell into the first category kind of on mistake but that ‘ranking’ has stayed with me. It’s like I was born into it and now whatever I do I will always slightly be a that seventeen year old girl partying at clubs and smoking in Central Park.

Friends Never Go Out of Style.

September 17, 2008 · 1 Comment

My best friend “Charlotte” just made a blog and I highly recommend it. She’s been my best friend since high school. She works for Allure and is super trendy and has great insight in fashion, relationships, and life. Please check it out: http://newyorkecherie.wordpress.com/.

Boy, Interupted

When I think about the word ‘men’ other words like dirty, irresponsible, and lazy come to mind. I would have never guessed that this species would actually inspire a fashion trend that has been lasting for a few seasons now. And we all now that fall will not be the end to this style. Whenever I think of women dressing in men’s attire I think of Katharine Hepburn or Coco Chanel.

These women have two things in common: an influence on fashion and their love for blazers.

I have found two blazers that I have fallen in love with. The first one being a bit out of my price range. It is Mary-Kate and Ashley’s line Elizabeth and James at Intermix.

The other blazer is from Urban Outfitters and a great alternitive balzer if you aren’t willing to spend that much.

I love the color of this one and I also love the rolled cuffs. Another fashion inspired by the men is the wingtip loafers. I also found two of these: one pair from United Colors of Benetton and one from Forever 21.

And of course I can’t not mention the notorious ‘boyfriend sweater.’ My favorite is the one from American Apparel that is unisex.

So, when we all think that men have contributed nothing to this world, just think about your cute new blazer hanging up in your closet!

The Drought

September 15, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I know I have written in ages but its fashion week and I’ve been super busy with everything like fittings, rehearsals, and the shows. But I have finally found time to sit down at my computer and write a bit. Oh and I know I forgot to update you on the US Open. It was so much fun and I sat right next to a few famous celebrities like a team member on the New York Giants and Kelsey Grammar.

I have also had a bit of a drought myself in two ways. Firstly my boyfriend Mr. Right’s grandfather’s brother-in-law’s aunt died and he used that as an excuse to fly to England for the funeral. He’s pretty close to his grandfather so I think he wanted Mr. Right there. But, I want Mr. Right here! At least he will be back soon.

Secondly, my computer has been having lots of problems for the past year so I borrowed my friend’s sister’s friend’s old one. I know, that seems really odd but the thing is my friend’s sister’s friend gave it to my friend’s sister and my friend’s sister gave it to my friend and my friend gave it to me. Basically, no one was in need of computer but I was. So anyway there is a reason for this confusing story. I sent some emails using the Mail application on the Mac but when I did that it sent using the original owners name but I thought that the name that was sent was my own. Most emails I sent I used by sending on the internet and those all worked correctly. The only reason I want to say all this is I am sure that no one knows my real identity but I was thinking and I decided to make things a bit less confusing I would go out and saw it. My name is Meg. There you have it. I’ve gone almost three months without telling you guys but I feel like now I need to because I don’t want any of you thinking I’m someone that I’m not. As some of you know, I’ve done bits and pieces of acting here and there but mostly just modeling.

On another note, make sure to see Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist! It looks great and one of my besties is in it!
