Sex and the Country

June 29, 2008 · 3 Comments

This weekend I went to the Hamptons with my best friend. We stayed at  my friend’s parent’s house up there. It was really nice. We spent all day at the beach club or the pool in their backyard and all night walking around in the town. It was very relaxing. What I love about leaving the city is coming back. You know that feeling when you come home and you’re unpacking? It just makes you feel so happy to be home. I love it.

Anyway, another thing I wanted to tell you all was about this new store, Madewell, I found. It is located in Soho in New York, Los Angeles, New Jersey, Texas, and other places as well. I love Madewell so much because it is super comfy but also so adorable and chic. Here’s a picture from the website: www.madewell1937.com

An American in Paris

June 27, 2008 · 6 Comments

So, I was watching the two-part finale of Sex and the City, titled An American in Paris, and I decided that those two episodes have the best fashion in the whole entire show. Every single outfit Carrie Bradshaw and her other friends wore was just spectacular.

This is one of my favorite outfit that Carrie wears because it fits so well and also looks stunning. I tried to find something that resembled it and found this on Saks.

One way to recreate Carrie’s outfit but spend less money would be to take this studded tank top (found at Forever 21) and this high-waisted skirt (found at American Apparel) and this blue belt (found at Forever 21).

Here’s another outfit of hers that I absolutely adore!

I found two things that reminded me of this dress. One is a shirt from shopbop.com and the other is a floral dress from Saks.

The Turtle and the Hare

June 24, 2008 · 4 Comments

So, I am officially dating that guy we’ve called “Mr. Right” but we have decided to take it slower than slow because I want to just have fun. In this city, it is so hard to just find someone who wants to take it slow. I used to be the needy girlfriend but now I feel like a insensitive boyfriend. But seriously, when did four dates imply it was time to meet the parents? I certainly never got that memo. Anyway, when did I change into this type of girlfriend? Does that mean I really am just not ready to date since my last relationship?

Was It Good For You?

June 24, 2008 · 2 Comments

As you probably all realized, the site has changed. I don’t only want to change how my blog looks but also what it says. After capturing a bit of an audience, I want to ask you: What do you want to hear? I have realized I’ve written a lot about my personal life and not as much about fashion as I would like. Please give me anything you want me to talk about. Also what you like to read about more: my life or fashion or both? You can comment back on this or email me at contact.vogueidea@gmail.com.

Please feel free to email me. I love getting emails and will spend as much time as neccasary to answer every single one. You can seriously email me about anything: your home, your boyfriend, or your new Jimmy Choo’s or anything about New York. I have lived in New York for my whole life (minus one year) and have a lot to say about it and everything that happens in it. Please, please, please don’t hesitate to email me!

xoxo

Where’s the Smoke…

June 21, 2008 · 1 Comment

These new fashions are on fire! The first one is not exactly new but perfect for summer and I am newly obsessed! Scarves. And not just as a mere warmth device but as a fashion accessory. I am inspired to write about this because one of my best friends has a slight substance abuse problem – with scarves. She always always wears scarves if its with leggings and a tee or jeans and a sweater. the way she wears her scarves make her outfit since she wears gorgeous scarves with simple clothes. My current favorite scarf is one from Sete de Jaipur for $79.

I love the tie-dye-ness of it and blue and brown always look simply amazing together!

The other style that I love now is ray-bans. But with a twist.

Old Dogs, New Dicks

June 18, 2008 · 4 Comments

Sorry for the inappropriate title but I felt it was the only Sex and the City  title that would work with what I am about to share: my past few loves and my new ones. So, my first true love was in high school with a man (let’s call him “Johnny”). We both went to private school Uptown and met one night when my friends and I were walking around. “Johnny” was in his junior year when I was in my sophomore year. When he went to college, I broke up with him knowing fully well he wasn’t going to stay faithful to some senior when he could have college girls. Then, I became that college girl but was too focused on modeling and acting and school to also focus on a passionate relationship. Sure I had a few flings (okay… maybe a lot) but nothing serious.

I have written about my second “true love” before, the one in LA (we will call him “Brad” – yes, like Brad Pitt). “Brad,” at first, was just a fling but then he kept calling and calling and then I became hooked, but not to him, at first – to his fame. When I told my friends in New York I was dating “Brad,” they didn’t believe me until they saw my picture in the tabloids. I got to go to the premiere of his movie and met his agent, who helped me land my first film and introduced me to my current agent. At first, I was just reaping the benefits of having a famous boyfriend. Then I really fell in love though. The year went wonderfully but when I knew it was time to go, we were both crushed. He still calls me every now and then and we remain “friends”, although is it really ever a healthy relationship to be friends with your ex?

Now, I have a few new guys but I must say, I becoming to really like on of them. Two of them I am just seeing for good arm candy – I know that’s bad but they know I am totally not serious about our relationship, so they understand. One I really don’t like – he is kind of pushy and not very cute. And the last one (let’s call him “Mr. Right”) he is just “right.” I don’t know. He got me a Tiffany’s bracelet on our third “get together” – not the only reason I like him but he knows how to spoil me and I looove that. I want to make this exclusive but I don’t know if he feels the same. Plus, if I do the other guys will have to go.

It’s so complicated to figure out if you really want to start something with someone. I mean if things go wrong then what? I am definitely the one for settling down but I hate feeling like I might be missing something better. I don’t when I am with someone who I like but still, what if Mr. Right turns out to be Mr. Wrong, then what?

Out of The Frying Pan

June 18, 2008 · Leave a Comment

So, I have been living in my apartment for exactly two weeks now. I have decided the loans and everything are totally worth it. Plus, I have already gotten enough money to pay off a half of it and I just landed a job that will pay off a lot. Anyway, it is completely worth it.

I have recently figured out the most effective party one can have: a “home welcoming” party – both to celebrate my new house and celebrate my coming back to New York. I have been making microwavable dinners. I didn’t even have flatware! Anyway, I told my best friends to register for things at William Sonoma for me and I got the most amazing things! It might seem a bit odd to register for things when I am not getting married or anything but say I never get married, I would never be able to register for gifts.

So, I got basically everything from flatware, to pots and pans, to teacups. Now I am going to have a thank you party and use all of the things they bought me! I invited around fifty people. My apartment was tight but it fit everyone nicely.

Talking about my apartment, I went to Pottery Barn and Urban Outfitters and bought some new furniture to replace some of the old furniture I didn’t like as much. i bought my apartment furnished, which was a good move on my part because then I don’t have to go major shopping – I can just do things bit by bit. I bought lots more pillows and a rocking chair. I also went to my friend’s art gallery and bought some art.

One?

June 14, 2008 · 1 Comment

So, as I have mentioned before, I am currently seeing a few people. Now, on Facebook one of them has requested our martial status to be “dating.” According to me, we are not dating but just seeing each other. When does just another guy become the only other guy?

The Big Time

June 10, 2008 · 4 Comments

I think that in order to have a “style” you have to start somewhere. It’s easiest to take a celebrity who you admire what they wear and figure out what you like about their style. Then, add your own style. When I started modeling is when became “fashion conscience”. What I mean by that is that is when I started knowing designers names, what styles were “in”, and when I started to try and find my personal style. It’s not like I didn’t now who Yves Saint Laurent (RIP) was. It’s just I wore what was on the mannequin at Abercrombie and Fitch instead of looking for cute, unique finds. My style icons are people who shaped my style in one way or another.

Firstly, I totally and completely admire Audrey Hepburn. The simple black dress became a legend after she wore it.The simple black dress is a staple in every girl’s closet and would be adorable with not only high heels but converses to make it just that more edgy. Also, a mini black dress would make it timeless but modern at the same time. I don’t only love what she wore but how she wore it: with class and elegance.

Kate Moss is the next fashion icon for me because her look is so “New York model”. Her cute vests and skinny jeans just exude a fun, charismatic person that I want my clothes to portray. I love her leather jackets and her boots and mini skirts. It’s totally inspiring!! Also, Hayden Panettiere because she is around my age and gorgeous! Not only is she a style icon for me but a role model because of her great efforts to make the world a better place. I love her fashion sense too. She wears mini dresses and vintage outfits and skinny jeans. She likes flowers, stripes, and simple back too.

Lastly, Sienna Miller, although what her career is is unknown, has an amazing fashion sense. What I love about her the most is that her look is always so laid-back. Her notorious ”hippy” vibe makes her look recognizable which I think is a characteristic that everyone’s style should be. Miller, along with other celebrities, has brought back certain styles like Ray Ban sunglasses (that now everyone owns), fashion scarves, and braided hair along with braided dresses.

I think after looking at all of these pictures and people, I think my fashion sense is my own but I definitely get inspired my people and things. I love mini dresses, LBD, skinny jeans, cute tees, black pants, bright colored dresses, Mary Jane’s, tribal prints, and lots more.

What are your favorite style icons and what styles are you a fan of this season??
